About the Spring 2024 authors

Chandler Barganier is a senior at Texas State University majoring in political science and minoring in business administration. She has been involved with Texas State Student Government as election board chair, Model UN and was a member of Chi Beta Delta. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career in public interest law. Chandler enjoys spending her free time running, thrifting or practicing yoga. 

Jackson Barr is a fourth-year student majoring in philosophy with a minor in honors. He works as an honors student coordinator in the Honors College at Texas State. Jackson completed his honors capstone project in the fall of 2023, researching university residence halls’ architecture and the influence it plays in residential community making. Jackson enjoys reading philosophy, history and theology in his free time. He hopes to pursue graduate school, studying architecture and public space relations.

Bill Barry is a first-year Texas State student, majoring in political science and minoring in psychology. In his free time, Bill loves practicing the bass and guitar, writing music with his friends, and playing outdoor sports. Although Bill grew up in Alabama, he is excited to continue his education and the rest of his life in Texas. After graduation, he plans to attend law school and begin practicing in the field of personal injury law.

Trevor Beal is a first-year student majoring in business management with a minor in political science. He has been involved at Texas State as a member of the Terry Scholars Student Organization. Trevor enjoys playing guitar and piano, hiking and traveling. He aspires to build a career within the banking industry.

Dylan Burnett is a fourth-year student studying majoring in political science, minoring in English. He transferred from Austin Community College as a sophomore and has aspirations to attend law school in Texas. Dylan enjoys spending time at the river or socializing at Sewell Park when events are occurring there. He also enjoys hiking with his dog Maribel on the weekends in order to get out and about.

Juliet Cano is a senior at Texas State University majoring in advertising and minoring in international relations. In her free time, she enjoys baking, crafting and watching horror movies with friends. During her time at Texas State, Juliet competed in the National Student Advertising Competition and the Eugene Scassa Mock OAS Program. In the future, she hopes to pursue careers in advertising and brand management.

Liam Capwell is a third-year student majoring in electronic media and minoring in political science. He is a member of the 2024 Council of Scholars and is currently interning with the San Antonio Spurs. Liam is a broadcast intern that works directly with the production crew in the broadcast truck for NBA television. He also produces content for Spurs social media use and personal portfolio development. After achieving his degree, Liam hopes to have a full-time position in broadcasting or content creation with the Spurs.

Lochlan Daily is a third-year student majoring in political science with a minor in art. Since transferring from Austin Community College, he has taken part in volunteer work with the Special Olympics and enjoys being a part of the Bobcat community. Lochlan enjoys spending time with family and friends, music, reading, writing and intends to continue his academic journey following his fourth and final year at Texas State.

William Eugene-Onyejiaka is a third-year student majoring in public administration with a minor in geography. He has been involved at Texas State as an orientation leader, peer mentor, tour guide and on the leadership team of Alpha Omega, a campus ministry. William enjoys playing piano, baking cookies and public speaking. He aspires to attend graduate school to study student affairs in higher education to work with college-aged students in some capacity.

Marrah Fuentes is a second-year student majoring in public relations with a minor in health communication, and is in the process of pursing a double major in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She has a passion for health advocacy and plans to work in the patient advocacy or health analytics field. Marrah is a first-generation student and the oldest of three. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, watching nostalgic TV shows and spending time with friends.

Madison Green is a senior with majors in advertising as well as psychology and minors in women’s studies, honors studies and Spanish. She currently interns as the marketing fellow at the Stelos Alliance and works as a resident assistant at TXST. Additionally, Madison volunteers as a columnist at The University Star and a public relations assistant at Bobcat Promotions. After college, Madison hopes to work in the field of mass communication. When Madison is not working, you can find her on LinkedIn (her favorite social media platform), or reading.

Felicity Guajardo is a second-year student at Texas State majoring in journalism with a minor in communication studies. She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists Texas State chapter, a KTSW 89.9-FM news and culture blogger and has been a student worker at Albert B. Alkek Library for over a year. She enjoys traveling and has studied abroad with Dr. Gilbert D. Martinez and Jon Zmikly on the SJMC Education Abroad trip to Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan. She plans to study abroad for the second time with Dr. Ali Forbes in Paris, France, for the Summer 2024 Olympics. Felicity also enjoys going to concerts with her best friends in her free time.

Simon Kinski is a third year student majoring in history and political science and minoring in political communications. He works as an event coordinator with the Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA). This year, he has competed with the Texas State Model OAS, Model UN, and IACHR Moot Court teams. After graduation, he plans on attending law school. In his free time, Simon enjoys playing video games, hiking and playing with his cat.

Robert Mancha is a junior majoring in political science with a minor in journalism. He is a first-year student at Texas State and will be graduating early in the spring of 2025. Following graduation, he plans on attending law school in Texas and is set on becoming a practicing attorney, likely in the fields of employment, labor or immigration law. This summer, he will internship with the City of San Antonio and will be work closely with city officials to learn more about the inner workings of city government and public administration. At Texas State, he has participated in Model United Nations and is part of the Honors College. He also works at the campus radio station, KTSW 89.9, as a rotational DJ and music reviewer. His love for discovering new music and discussing it with others has certainly inspired his decision to work at the radio station. His ideal future would be working as an attorney in San Antonio, settled in a reasonably priced downtown apartment and blabbering to his friends and family about the new James Blake or Carly Rae Jepsen album.

Jayla Martinez is a business major with a concentration in service marketing with a minor in data analytics. She is from Central Texas and hopes to find a career in Austin after she graduates in 2026. She is a member of the Texas State Honors College and the Bobcat Farm. In her free time, Jayla enjoys baking, playing with her dog and swimming in the San Marcos River. 

Isabella Rohlik is a second-year student majoring in political science with a minor in honors studies. She is a member of the TXST Honors College and is the 2024-25 president of Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society. Isabella is an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, and Supporting Women in Political Science (S.W.I.P.S.) at TXST. Isabella works part-time as a junior academy club soccer coach and plays intramural soccer as often as she can. She plans to attend law school after graduating, and intends to pursue a career in the realm of U.S. domestic law relating to environmental protections and/or civil rights regulations.

Jaelynn Sifuentes is a junior at Texas State University majoring in political science with an English minor. Jaelynn enjoys reading, crocheting and spending time outdoors in her free time. After graduating, she hopes to attend law school. 

Candace Taggart is a first-year student at Texas State University, majoring in digital media and innovation. She is a news reporter for The University Star, TXST’s student-run newspaper. In the future, Candace’s goals are to work as a multimedia journalist. She is also a part of the TXST Honors College, Society of Professional Journalists and the Bobcat Build Committee that is in charge of planning TXST’s BIG event, a single-day community service event in Hays County. Candace’s interest in journalism stems from UIL journalism competitions in high school, as well as her older sister, who works on the digital team at a news station. She has a fraternal twin sister Rebecca, and their shared dachshund Bernie is Candace’s baby and whole life. 

Madyson Westermann is a junior majoring in public relations with a minor in consumer affairs. She is a member of the TXST Honors College and the Public Relations Student Society of America. After college, she plans on working in the field of public relations. Madyson enjoys cooking, dancing and spending quality time with family and friends.
